Meet Us
Two educators. One shared belief: every child can thrive, no matter what.
The Learning Lodge was founded by two experienced primary educators and school leaders who wanted to create something a little different.
After many years working in primary education, we have seen first-hand that children do not all learn in the same way. Some thrive in a busy classroom, while others need a quieter environment, smaller groups, a different approach or simply the confidence to have another go.
We created The Learning Lodge to provide exactly that.
Between us, we bring extensive experience of teaching, school leadership, curriculum development and supporting children with additional needs. We are both qualified teachers, holding BA (Hons) degrees in Primary Education with QTS, alongside:
- Jaclyn - National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)
- Fiona - National Professional Qualification for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (NPQSENCo)
Our experience as school leaders has given us a deep understanding of both the academic and emotional needs of children. We know that progress isn't just about getting the right answer, it's about developing confidence, curiosity, resilience and a belief that you can do it.
We wanted The Learning Lodge to be a place where children feel known, valued and encouraged, while receiving high-quality teaching from experienced educators.
For us, tutoring isn't simply about filling gaps. It's about finding what works for each individual child and helping them discover what they are capable of.
We are incredibly proud to have created The Learning Lodge and look forward to welcoming children and families into our learning community.
Meet Jaclyn
I'm so pleased to welcome you to The Learning Lodge.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching children of all ages and abilities across the primary phase, and I have also, more recently, been a primary school headteacher. These experiences over the last 22 years have given me a real understanding of the different ways children learn, as well as the importance of helping every child feel confident, valued and understood.
I truly believe that happy children learn best. Before a child can fully engage with their learning, they need to feel comfortable, supported and able to trust the person teaching them. Building that relationship is at the heart of everything I do.
I also believe that learning should be fun! Children are naturally curious, and I love finding ways to spark that curiosity and make learning feel exciting rather than like a chore. I am a strong advocate for active, hands-on learning and believe that children don't always need to be sitting at a desk to learn. Sometimes the most meaningful learning happens through talking, exploring, playing, creating and having fun.
At The Learning Lodge, my aim is to provide a safe, nurturing and encouraging space where children can develop their skills, build their confidence and discover what they are capable of.
Every child has their own individual strengths, needs and interests, and I would love to get to know your child and help them grow, learn and enjoy their educational journey.
I look forward to welcoming you and your child to The Learning Lodge, where we are learning differently, growing confidently.
Meet Fiona
I've been a teacher for over 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with children across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Over the years, I've learnt that there really is no such thing as a "one size fits all" approach to learning. Every child is different, and sometimes it takes a little time, patience and creativity to find what works for them.
I'm also a qualified SENCO, and my role supporting children with additional needs has strengthened my belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, feel successful and reach their potential. I've always been passionate about looking beyond a child's difficulties and seeing the individual - their strengths, interests, personality and the things that make them tick.
I know that for some children, learning can feel difficult, frustrating or overwhelming. I believe that when we take the time to understand a child and find the right way for them to learn, it can make such a difference to their confidence and their enjoyment of learning.
Because when children are given the opportunity to learn in a way that works for them, they can discover what they are capable of - learning differently, growing confidently.
